Fertilization & Weed Control
Custom treatment programs that feed your lawn and eliminate weeds season by season.
Feed Your Lawn, Starve the Weeds
A Healthy Lawn Is Your Best Weed Defense
The secret to a weed-free lawn isn't just killing weeds — it's growing grass so thick and healthy that weeds can't get a foothold in the first place. Our fertilization and weed control programs work together to do both: targeted herbicides knock out the weeds you have now, while balanced nutrition builds the dense turf that prevents them from coming back.
Every property is different, and Indiana's clay soils have specific nutrient needs. We don't use a one-size-fits-all approach. Your program is tailored based on your grass type, soil conditions, sun exposure, and the specific weed pressures you're dealing with.
Our Program
Year-Round Treatment Schedule
Our standard program includes 5-6 treatments spread across the growing season. Each round is timed to Indiana's climate patterns and targets the specific challenges of that time of year.
Round 1: Early Spring
March – April
Pre-emergent crabgrass barrier plus early-season fertilizer to break winter dormancy and green up your lawn. Timing is critical — we apply before soil temperatures hit 55°F.
Round 2: Late Spring
May – June
Broadleaf weed control targeting dandelions, clover, and plantain as they emerge. Balanced fertilizer to sustain spring growth without pushing too-fast blade growth.
Round 3: Summer
June – July
Spot-treat persistent broadleaf weeds and nutsedge. Light feeding with slow-release nutrients to maintain color through summer heat without stressing the grass.
Round 4: Late Summer
August – September
Transition feeding as temperatures cool. Target any remaining summer weeds and prepare the lawn for the fall recovery period — the most important growing season for cool-season grasses.
Round 5: Fall
October – November
Heavy fall fertilization is the most impactful round of the year. This application builds root reserves, thickens the turf, and sets your lawn up for a strong start next spring.
Round 6: Winterizer
Late November
A final application of slow-release potassium and nitrogen before the ground freezes. This strengthens cell walls for winter hardiness and gives your lawn a head start on spring green-up.
What We're Fighting
Common Indiana Lawn Weeds
Every region has its weed pressures, and east-central Indiana is no exception. Our programs target the specific weeds that thrive in our local soil and climate conditions.
- Crabgrass — prevented with properly timed pre-emergent barriers
- Dandelions and clover — eliminated with selective broadleaf herbicides
- Nutsedge — treated with targeted products that won't harm your grass
- Ground ivy (creeping charlie) — persistent but controllable with proper timing
- Plantain and chickweed — common in compacted, thin lawns
How It Works
Getting Started
Free Lawn Evaluation
We visit your property to assess your grass type, current weed pressures, soil conditions, and any problem areas. This helps us build a program that actually fits your lawn.
Custom Program Design
Based on our evaluation, we build a treatment plan with the right products and timing for your specific property. No cookie-cutter programs here.
Scheduled Applications
We show up throughout the season to apply each round. After every visit, you'll get a notification with what we applied, what to expect, and any recommendations.
Free Service Calls
